Going North

Our Norwegian ancestors comes from two areas in the Norwegian region Nordland, located north of the polar circel.

In Steigen Community in Vestfjorden as a part of Lofoten and located some 150 km north of the polar cirkel, the two small islands Engeloya and Lundoya is the areas where the two families Wiik and Lund has their roots, and we have collected information on these families back to around 1650.

Hadseloya, or just Hadsel, is another small island located far west in Lofoten/Vesteraalen some 50 km north of Steigen.

From this area the family Udbjorg has their roots. We have collected information on this family back to 1791 but are working on information from 1666 and 1701 to find the next links.
